Acharya Prafulla Chandra Roy:

Prafulla Chandra Roy was born on 02.08.1861 in Khulna, Bangladesh. He had his primary education in village pathsala in Khulna. Then he studied in Hare School and also in Albert School. He passed the Entrance Examination in 1878. He took his F. A. degree from Metropolitan College in 1882. He won Gilchrist Scholarship and went to London. He passed B.Sc. in 1884 from Edinburgh University. He became D>sc. in 1887 from this University. He retuned to India and joined Presidency College as a Professor in 1889. He was the first scientist to prepare Mercurous Nitrite in laboratory in 1896. He founded Bengal Chemical in 1900. He joined Science College as Palit Professor in 1916. He was retired from the service in 1930. He wrote some famous books. He was patriot and educationist. This great son of Bengal Passed away on 16th June, 1944.
